In a 20-year examination of complex analysis, led by philosophical questions, this creatively diverse body of work has emerged. It is supported by a concept that understands images as a transition, as space-filling objects between sculpture and painting, and it sits as a mediator between reality and imagination.

In a quasi monastic attitude, Frank Hinrichs has sought these intensities that have been aged in time and in the silence of solitude.

Transition depicts the time in which an idea transforms into a fleeting physical representation of feeling.  It is brief and the action passes, but what remains are striking images of thought, solitude and technical brilliance.

With large canvases of his Scripture paintings to the wall of his Engramm and Fabric series, Hinrichs’ work is a delight of deep meditation.  With one series entitled Utopian Body, Hinrichs work is entrenched in German philosophy and classical music that inspires his process.

His use of colour, plastic resins and marble dust adds texture and surface to this powerful work.  His mastery lies in what he removes rather than in what remains.
